Service Description

Please provide a simple sketch pad for your student. Your student will be asked to bring in garments for adjustment, mending, and embellishment throughout the semester as well as a TBD amount of fabric for their creations. We will be spending a few weeks on sewing machine use and application, so if your child would like to bring their machine that would be encouraged. For those who know how to use a machine...great! Review is always helpful. Fashion! Does your student love flipping through magazines, designing looks for themselves and friends, finding clothes at the thrift shops that they want to adjust to make their own, or have dreams of making the perfect costume? In this fun class, we will do all of those things! Your student will learn how to develop a fashion drawing style all of their own to convey their unique vision as we learn about clothing adjustment and embellishment, what different types of fabric are and how to work with them and use patterns, how to repurpose fashions we find at thrift shops (or in their closets), as well as design and create a piece of wearable art from start to end. In each of our art classes, we create a respectful and caring space while we learn about the elements of art and principles of design, we use artistic language and learn about proper supply usage and how to take care of our creative space. 15 Weeks.
